An abundance of Indonesian culture and tradition will transform the Darwin Waterfront into a cultural utopia at Pesona Indonesia this Saturday 4 August from 4pm to 9pm.

Authentic food offerings, vibrant cultural displays, dance rituals, parades and music are just some of the entertainment included in the free annual festivities.

Indulge in Indonesian cuisine along the market style food strip. Flavours will include rich curries, charcoal barbeque satays, gado gado, spicy noodles, nasi goreng and hot soups along with a range of traditional sweet delights and tastings.

A unique line up of dance performances will grace the main stage from both Indonesian based and local groups. Galaxy Productions, direct from Jakarta, will open the celebrations with a traditional number reflective of their colourful and diverse culture. Music and dance will also feature from the Ambon Island group, Tor Tor dance, Young Diwa and the Bali Community.

For the first time a Ku De Ta themed, Bali style beer garden will be hosted by The Precinct Tavern alongside the festivities. You’ll be able to enjoy a cold Bintang while lounging in the tropical outdoor setting, scattered with coloured umbrellas and bean bags amongst the palms. 

“A number of our local Indonesian Community Associations take turns in coordinating the annual event. This year it comes as a great honour for the Indonesia Australia Community Darwin, now in their second year of establishment, to host these for the first time.”

“Indonesia is closer to Darwin than any of the other Australian capital cities, so it’s only natural that we have inherited some of the rich culture and similar laid-back lifestyle”.

“We are Australia’s gateway to Indonesia which makes it even more important for us to instil a sense of tradition and heritage within our local community”.

“Pesona Indonesia gives the Indonesian community the opportunity to share all of their diverse rituals from various parts of our closest neighbour, Indonesia”.
