The much anticipated round one of the 2018-19
Screen Grants Program has opened today Monday 30 July and closes on 27 August
2018.
Each year, Screen Territory offers three grant funding rounds to support the development and production of high quality feature films, TV drama series, web series, children’s animation and documentaries that showcase the depth of talent in the Territory.
Phillip Leslie, Department of Tourism and Culture Executive Director Community Participation Arts and Sport, said the NT Screen Industry was highly regarded for its contribution to our cultural well-being and creative economy.
“There are six funding categories available in round one, noting that the travel support and career development programs are flexible and open all year round.
“This will provide a significant boost to local jobs and support local filmmakers,” Mr Leslie said.
- Story Development - The development of distinctive Territory screen stories across TV Drama, features, children's TV, documentary and web series.
- Production Finance - Support the production of distinct Territory stories and creative content from Territory screen practitioners. Programs will be supported on the basis of their marketplace attachments and finance plan.
- Industry Development - Increase the capacity of NT screen industry through initiatives that will build industry capability, skills development and career enhancement in line with goals of the draft Screen Industry Development Plan.
- Audience Development - Provide opportunities for NT audiences and Territory screen practitioners to engage with and experience quality screen content through the support of regional film festivals.
- Travel Support - Support NT practitioners to maintain skills, develop strategic partnerships with broadcasters, distributors and interstate production companies to grow their business.
- Career Development - To identify emerging talent and establish career pathways through internships and mentoring to encourage the next generation to remain in the NT.
In addition to the opening of the first round of grant funding, a new Screen Industry Development Plan will be released in early August 2018, the implementation of which will be supported by a newly established Screen Industry Advisory Council (SIAC). Expressions of Interest for the SIAC will be sought to ensure the Council has a breadth of experience and capability to help deliver the plan.
Round one Screen Industry grants are open for four weeks from 30 July 2018 to 27 August 2018.
