An incident occurred between approximately 6pm and 9pm last night (7 July) at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre.
Four young people refused to go to their rooms after dinner
and caused a disturbance resulting in infrastructure damage at the Centre.
The young people forced entry to a staff only area of the centre and gained
access to material to attempt to start a fire.
Police assisted to de-escalate the incident and removed the four young people
from the Centre, investigations into the incident
continue.
Northern Territory
Fire and Rescue Service inspected minor damage and rendered the area safe.
No young people or staff at the Centre were injured.
