$69 million stimulus enhances town camps

Department of Local Government, Housing and Community Development

Requiring dialysis, Julie Clyne moved to Little Sisters town camp to be closer to medical facilities.

While it was a significant move from her community in Kings Canyon, she is thankful for her new home.

Julie is a member of the Housing Reference Group for the Little Sisters town camp.

The house Julie has been allocated along with her daughter Regina France was refurbished, as part of the $69 million stimulus program.

This program aims to create an immediate economic boost to the construction industry, through expediting repairs, maintenance and upgrades to public housing.

Julie and Regina’s home received new floors, doors, verandah and roof.  It was also repainted inside and out.

Julie and Regina live here with one other women and teenager.  Each have their own bedroom.

“I love it here,” Julie said.

“It’s peaceful and quiet,” she said.
