Territory schools receive funds for innovation

Department of Education

Over 50 government schools across the Territory are set to undertake innovative projects to enhance learning after receiving funding through the Innovation Fund for School Improvement grant program 2018.

The Innovation Fund for School Improvement was launched in March 2018 to help deliver innovative school improvement projects in line with the Education NT Strategy 2018‑2022.

Twelve innovative school improvement projects have received funding from a one-off funding pool of close to $1 million through the new program.

Department of Education Deputy Chief Executive Marion Guppy was pleased with the large number of applications submitted to develop innovative approaches and share learnings across Territory schools.

“It’s fantastic to see so many Territory schools collaborate and support each other to establish projects with a common goal to continuously improve the quality education for our children,” Ms Guppy said.

The funded projects focus on a range of school improvement areas, including; the use of emerging technologies to improve learning, teacher to teacher coaching and observation, professional learning to support students affected by trauma, and the development of STEM pathways from primary to middle school.

“Strong partnerships between schools and organisations to deliver projects like these will strengthen the quality of education and the learning environment for our children,” Ms Guppy said.

“Projects with a focus on school improvement are critical to the success of all our students, no matter where they live, across the Territory.

“We look forward to following the progress of each project and the positive impact they have on their communities.”
