What: Could you identify an Asian honeybee if you saw one? Public reporting plays a crucial role in identifying and eradicating exotic plant pests. The Department of Primary Industry and Resources (DPIR) is currently conducting surveillance activity after a swarm of Asian honeybees was found in Karama in May, and urges the public to report any suspected sightings of Asian honeybees.
Media will be updated on the Asian honeybee response and the surveillance work currently being undertaken, including using pheromone balloons and bee-eater birds. More information about Asian honeybees is available on the Northern Territory Government website.
