Skies to ignite at Darwin Waterfront - Territory Day Celebrations

Darwin Waterfront Corporation

A Territory themed celebration at the Darwin Waterfront will see the skies ignite to mark the 40th anniversary of self-government from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday 1 July 2018.

The inaugural event is set to showcase live music performances by talented Territorians and roving children’s entertainment, with plenty of space to nestle in with a picnic to watch the fireworks finale at 8pm.

The iconic Darwin Convention Centre will mark the perfect backdrop displaying rays of ochre and white across the exterior throughout the night.

Eighteen year old Territorian born and bred singer songwriter Jordan Ravi will perform open air, along with other locals Will Hatch and an admirable favourite, Max Fredericks who spruiks a repertoire spanning across six decades.

Surrounding restaurants are open for a front row seat of the fireworks, so be sure to make a reservation. The Waterfront’s newest establishment, Lime Café will be open for dinner also providing a range of fresh takeaway options to enjoy on the lawns.

To cap it off in true Territory tradition at 8pm, a spectacular ground and aerial pyro musical display of Territory Day fireworks will fire off of the Darwin Waterfront Sea Wall.

The Darwin Waterfront Corporation will restrict personal fireworks at and around the event in the interests of safety for event goers.

Personal fireworks are permitted elsewhere in the precinct such as Jervois Park and Dolphin Park, and only from 6pm to 11pm on 1 July 2018. Visitors are asked to observe all signage and directions from Waterfront staff and contractors.

Eskys are welcome however glass and alcohol is not permitted. Free on street parking will be available in marked bays and in the Mavie street overflow car park via Frances Bay Drive or Stokes Hill Road. It is also free for the first two hours per day in the Kitchener Drive Multi-Level Carpark.
