Open Day at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Join in the free fun and festivities tomorrow at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens.

The annual Botanic Gardens Australia and New Zealand Day is a celebration and recognition of the importance botanic gardens play in our lives and communities.

Department of Tourism and Culture, Acting Director of George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, Nigel Walsh, said the day is held in conjunction with 75 botanic gardens from around Australia and New Zealand.

“Botanic gardens are at the forefront of plant conservation and encourage and inspire gardening across the community,” Mr Walsh said.

“There will be something for everyone including plant sales, garden information stalls, a waterslide and sausage sizzle.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to chat with experts about your own garden, and gain some design inspiration during the free guided walks.

“With such perfect Dry Season weather at the moment, there is no better time to get out and explore our beautiful botanic gardens.”

The open day will run from 10-2pm on Sunday 27 May.
