Camping has not been banned at Noonamah Rodeo

Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics

Senior officials from the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics will meet with the organisers of the Noonamah Rodeo again today to get a safe camping solution for the event.

It must be stressed that camping has not been banned, however we need to ensure that the thousands of people who attend the rodeo can enjoy the event, and get home safely.

The main concerns are with the mix of camping and parking in close vicinity to the Stuart Highway and the associated movement of pedestrians and cars across the highway – including people who are under the influence of alcohol. Of particular concern is people sleeping amongst cars.

The Department will continue to work with organisers to identify a safe camping solution which supports this popular event.
