Two lucky Territorians have each gone home with a $500 boating accessory voucher.
Ms Renee Barratt is one of the winners of the recent Recreation Boat Safety Campaign social media draw.
Part of this campaign asked the community on 16 April 2018 to show us their boat safety kit in order to win a $500 boating accessory voucher.
To win, all entrants needed to do to go into the draw was:
Share a picture of their boat safety kit in the comments of the Facebook post; and
Share the Facebook post.
“It’s great that a lot of Territorians have their ship together and safety gear in check. It is pleasing to see that people are generally well prepared for their trip,” said Simon Saunders, Executive Director of Transport and Safety Services.
Boat Safety is the responsibility of everyone out on our beautiful NT waterways, which is why the NT Government has been running their Recreational Boat Safety Campaign across social media as we approach the dry season.
The Government also recently held a free boat safety check on 31 March 2018 at Dinah Beach Boat Ramp. Those that attended went into the draw to win a $500 boating accessory voucher. Mr Daniel Bartlett was the lucky winner.
There was a great turn out on the day, with 30 recreational boats checked by Officers from the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Marine Branch.
Simon Saunders said, “The day provided a valuable opportunity for the Officers to talk to recreational boat owners about complying with the rules on the water, being in control at all times and staying safe.”
We would like to thank all of the participants that entered the draws.
It is important for all owners and operators to familiarise themselves with the safety equipment requirements and ensure that all equipment is in good condition, complies with regulations and is readily available when needed.
The Northern Territory Police conduct frequent checks for compliance with marine regulations.
