Mother's Day Saltwater Craft Fair - Sat 5 May

Darwin Waterfront Corporation

To mark our very first event for the dry season, the Mother’s Day Saltwater Craft Fair returns for another year on Saturday 5 May. An array of handmade and homemade wares will be available to peruse through the pop-up market style event on the lawns of the Darwin Waterfront.

There will be hundreds of special gifts from over 50 stall holders available to purchase, made by some of the Territory’s best artisan and craftspeople.

Some of the treasures for choice will include a colourful array of printed fabrics, silk scarves and cushion covers of all shapes and sizes. There will also be ornate silver pieces, glass and woven jewellery, ceramic plates, platters and ornamental tea cups that make a beautiful personalised gift.

“The event really is such a lovely affair that gives people the opportunity to choose a quality special gift that is not only made locally but could one day be an heirloom or antique piece of memorabilia”, Melanie Favola, Deputy Chair,Tactile Arts said.

“It’s the perfect way to kick start the long weekend and welcome the beautiful dry season weather that has started creeping in”.

This year the craft fair will run from 9pm to 3pm in the parklands to give people the day to explore the intricate pieces on offer. Enjoy the tranquil outdoor atmosphere while strolling through the trail of colourful stalls and listening to the tunes from two of our very own talented local musicians.

Pack a picnic for the day, or visit one of the surrounding restaurants for breakfast, brunch or an afternoon graze.

Two hours free parking is available at the Kitchener Drive multi-storey car park or patrons can park for free on road on the weekend.
