High school students from across Darwin will be given the opportunity to experience what it is like to work in the health sector at today's Interactive Careers Day at Royal Darwin Hospital.

The annual event provides year 10-12 students with practical insight into a range of health occupations, including mental health, medicine, biomedical engineering and nursing and midwifery.

Dr. Carole Maddison, Director of Nursing and Midwifery; Clinical Learning, Education and Research at RDH said the initiative aims to showcase the diverse careers and entry pathways that health has on offer.

“The youth of today are our future workforce and the event aims to inspire high school students to pursue a career in the health sector,” she said.

 “This year’s event is themed ‘Be True Be You’ and will focus on simulated learning, providing students with the opportunity to experience many different hands on activities in 14 health professions.

 “We are expecting over 100 students from 11 schools across Darwin and Palmerston Region to take part.”
