The Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Arts Centre is pleased to present Patch Theatre’s Yo Diddle Diddle, a family live theatre adventure that follows the story of how the cow jumped over the moon.

“We are excited to present Yo Diddle Diddle at the Araluen Arts Centre as our first children’s theatre production for 2018 and the first work created by Patch Theatre’s new Artistic Director Naomi Edwards,” Director of the Department of Tourism and Culture’s Araluen Cultural Precinct, Dr Mark Crees said.

“The work explores the theme of resilience and uses hip hop music to highlight the original nursery rhyme to encourage young audiences to be adaptable themselves.”

Yo Diddle Diddle tells the story of Cow and her friends Cat and Houston the Dog, and her dream to jump over the moon.

Naomi Edwards, Director of Yo Diddle Diddle says, “I wanted to make a show which explores resilience for our 4-8 year old audience. When I found Tony Wilson’s book The Cow Tripped Over the Moon, I knew I had found our inspiration.”

“Hip-hop was chosen as the music art form because it embodies resilience.  The mythology of hip-hop is born from resolution, storytelling, of rising up against adversity and using language, rhythm and rhyme to write your way out of a situation.”

Multi award winning producer DJ TR!P takes to the stage as ‘Houston’ the DJ’ing dog, providing live music as the story takes place.

Yo Diddle Diddle will be live onstage at the Araluen Arts Centre on Thursday 3 May at 6:00pm and on Friday 4 May at 10:00am and 1:00pm.

Ticket prices are $22.00 for both adults and children.  School groups are $16.00 per person.
