Seventeen young Territorian’s have been named as this
year’s Northern Territory Youth Round Table. The Round Table members (aged
15-25) will act as a direct communication avenue between
young Territorians and the Northern Territory Government.
Territory
Families Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Jeannette Kerr said the Youth Round
Table “gives young people in the Territory a platform to raise issues that are
important to them, and the opportunity to contribute to decision-making
processes around these issues.
“Young
people deserve to be heard and need to know that their opinions and ideas are
valued. We have to engage with young Territorians so we can better look at ways
to invest in them and the services provided to give them the support they need.
“These
members represent the geographic, cultural and ethnic diversity across the
Territory and are outstanding young role models. Throughout their 12-month
term, they will consult and advise various government departments, community
groups, other organisations and lead a community project," said Ms Kerr.
