Japan and Korea visit will promote resources trade and investment

Three Northern Territory Government representatives will travel to Japan and South Korea today with Primary Industry and Resources Minister Ken Vowles.

The objectives of the delegation are to:

  • communicate the NT Government’s ongoing willingness to be a trusted, long-term and stable supplier of resources to Japan and South Korea

  • promote minerals investment opportunities to potential Japanese and South Korean investors

  • provide a platform in which NT exploration companies can identify and directly access potential investors

  • maintain and strengthen relationships with strategic partner organisations in Japan and South Korea, which in turn will maintain the NT's profile and credibility as an exploration investment destination

  • deepen the NT's working relationship on agribusiness trade and investment matters through the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the NT.

The delegation will leave Darwin on Saturday 7 April and return on Saturday 14 April.

The public servants from the Department of Primary Industry and Resources who are travelling with the Minister are:

  • Deputy Chief Executive

  • Executive Director NT Geological Survey

  • Director Investment Attraction.

 Travel costs for the three public servants travelling to Japan and South Korea:

  • Total for flights – $14,372

  • Total for accommodation – $7,572

Travel costs are based on the official itineraries received from the travel provider prior to departure and the known exchange rate at the time.
