The Department of Tourism and Culture is inviting children to have a Wild Time in the Katherine region these school holidays.
Wild Time is open to children between five and ten years old and starts young explorers on a lifetime of adventure and connection with nature.
The Department of Tourism and Culture, Parks Wildlife and Heritage Community Engagement Officer, Clare Pearce, said the Wild Time program was a fantastic way to get children interested in their environment from an early age.
“There are so many little natural treasures in our Parks and Reserves, and it’s an important for Territory kids to be connected with nature, while having a great time discovering and exploring outdoors,” Ms Pearce said.
“Children and their families can attend a Wild Time activity to build their knowledge and skills, giving them the confidence to go out and experience our amazing Parks and Reserves by themselves later on.
“Events are on offer in Nitmiluk National Park and Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Reserve during school holidays in 2018. There’s one activity during the first mid-semester break and an activity each week over the mid-year break, and each time we will be investigating a new and exciting location and subject.”
To ensure the best and safest time at Wild Time, a parent or guardian over the age of 18 must accompany all children attending. All Wild Time events are free of charge.
