Royal Darwin Hospital is experiencing another peak in demand.
“The hospital is currently over capacity but we have acted swiftly to put our bed capacity management plans in place to try to reduce the pressure on beds,” Royal Darwin Hospital Director of Medical Services Dr Alison Maclean said.
“The situation will be monitored closely to ensure we are doing everything possible to maintain safe and quality patient care as well as the wellbeing of our staff.”
People with non-emergency health needs are encouraged to visit their GP or an after-hours clinic as soon as they feel unwell. Seeing a GP early will help prevent a person becoming more unwell and ensure the hospital has capacity to care for those who most need hospital care.
For emergencies, please call Triple Zero (000) or go to the Emergency Department.
