Licensing - takeaway alcohol restrictions in Tennant Creek

Department of Attorney-General and Justice

The Director-General of Licensing Cindy Bravos has decided to impose restrictions on the sale of takeaway alcohol in Tennant Creek for another seven days.

Restrictions imposed on 27 February 2018 were due to cease following the close of trade today.

“The early indications are that the current restrictions have partly alleviated the conditions in Tennant Creek but the sale, provision and consumption of takeaway alcohol and its subsequent harm to the community is still of significant concern,” Ms Bravos said.

“As a consequence, I have today determined to impose the same restrictions on the sale of takeaway alcohol for another seven days.”

These restrictions apply to Goldfields Hotel, Tennant Creek Hotel, Headframes Bottle Shop, Tennant Creek Memorial Club, Tennant Creek Golf Club and the Sporties Club. They will remain in place for seven days from 7 March 2018.

Ms Bravos will publish a formal Decision Notice about her determination in due course and it will be circulated to the relevant parties.
