If you’re feeling a little rained out pop in to the Live Darwin Hub and share a wet season story with local writer and Live Darwin Arts Round 2 recipient Oscar Schwartz.
Oscar will be the writer in residence at the Live Darwin Hub, Smith Street Mall each Tuesday and Wednesday between 12-2pm up to Wednesday 14 February.
“The wet season is a very unique time in Darwin, but also a quiet one. The weather is cooler, the storms electrifying, and the energy unmistakable,” Mr Schwarz said.
“I am wanting to interview people about their experience of the wet season for a written piece I am creating - if you have a story to share about the wet season come down to the Live Darwin hub and share your story with me.”
If you would like to submit a wet season story but can’t make it to the Live Darwin Hub email oscarschwartzis@gmail.com or give him a call on 0412 893 101.
For families looking for an indoor activity out of the rain, Live Darwin Arts Round 2 recipient and children’s entertainer Melanie Reid aka Melody Mel is bringing Melody Mel’s FUNdamentals of Music to the Live Darwin Hub during the month of February.
Aimed at children from 4-12 years of age and their parents, the musical workshops will see children making their own musical instruments using recycled materials, playing musical games and learning basic music concepts.
“All the music lessons aim to teach children the basics of music; beat, rhythm and melody, through play activities that promote cognitive coordination, language development and self-confidence,” Ms Reid said.
Melody Mel's FUNdamentals of Music workshops are free with participants able to make and play a new instrument in each session over the following dates in February:
Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 February – 10-11.30am
Friday 9 February – 6-7.30pm
Saturday 10 February – 10-11.30am
Bookings are preferred - to reserve a spot visit www.eventbrite.com.au and search ‘Melody Mel’
