Expressions of Interest to join the Northern Territory Liquor Commission are closing soon.

Territorians interested in becoming members must submit an EOI by 31 January 2018.

Expressions of interest (EOI) are open for a Chair, Deputy Chair, and up to six general members.

The Chair and Deputy Chair of the Liquor Commission will require legal qualifications, with at least five years of post-admission experience, and enjoy good standing in the community and the legal profession.

At least one member and one alternative member must have qualifications or appropriate knowledge, experience or expertise in health related matters. The health member must have good standing in the community and in the health sector.

Individuals with appropriate knowledge, experience, expertise and community standing in the tourism, business and hospitality industries are also strongly encouraged to submit an EOI.

All positions will be appointed by the Attorney-General of the Northern Territory.

Legislation establishing the Liquor Commission is expected to be introduced in the first Parliamentary sittings of 2018. The reinstated Liquor Commission is expected to commence hearings in early 2018.
