Don Dale escapee apprehended by NT Police

The young person who escaped from Don Dale Youth Detention Centre (DDYDC) on 28 December, 2017 has now been apprehended by NT Police.

The 17-year-old male was located on Groote Eylandt today, where he was arrested and is being detained before being transferred to DDYDC in Darwin tomorrow.

An incident debrief was conducted by Territory Families immediately after the young person’s escape, resulting in a review of staff supervision practices and escape emergency response procedures.

Territory Families acknowledges the consistent and comprehensive efforts of NT Police to address this matter, and thanks them for their professionalism and support in locating the young man.
