NT Health NT COVID-19 update – Public Health Emergency ends, airport mask mandate lifts

The Northern Territory’s Public Health Emergency Declaration will cease at 11.59pm tonight, Wednesday 15 June 2022.
To ensure the Territory can continue to respond to COVID-19, some Chief Health Officer Directions (CHO) will remain in place. These include:
Testing and reporting Rapid Antigen Test results
Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms using a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
People who test positive to a RAT must immediately declare their result using the Rapid Antigen Test declaration form [https://forms.nt.gov.au/Produce/Form/COVID19/COVID%20CareNT%20Registration/]. This is a legal requirement.
Infected persons and close contacts
The requirements for people who test positive for COVID-19 [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/living-with-covid-19/covid-19-positive] remain in place, including immediately isolating for at least seven days.
The requirements for people who are a close contact [https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/living-with-covid-19/close-contacts] also remain in place, including having a RAT within three days of becoming a close contact and on day six.
Face masks in high risk settings
Face masks must continue to be worn in the following high risk settings:
Hospitals and health care facilitiesAged care facilitiesDisability residential facilitiesCorrectional facilitiesFamily violence, sobering up and homeless sheltersWhile on board an aircraft.
It is highly recommended all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied. Children under the age of 12 do not need to wear a mask.
Police assistance
Compliance with all CHO Directions can be enforced by the Northern Territory Police.
Mask mandate to lift for airports from 18 June 2022
In addition, following recommendations from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) masks will no longer be required in NT airport terminals from 12.01am Saturday 18 June, 2022.
Masks must still be worn while on board an aircraft, in line with federal requirements.
