Nominations are now open for a range of important youth leadership roles that give young people the opportunity to ensure that young Territorians are celebrated and heard.
Young people can nominate or be nominated to be an NT Youth Week Ambassador in their local community throughout next year, and help to drive activities for 2018 NT Youth Week to be held from 13 to 22 April.
Nominations are also open for young people to join the 2018 NT Youth Round Table, which offers young Territorians an opportunity to share their ideas and opinions of their peers in the community, work on significant local projects and raise relevant youth issues with NT Government Ministers and other government agencies.
Territory Families CEO, Ken Davies, says the agency is committed to providing more opportunities for young people to build stronger connections with their local community and to offer platforms where their voices and views can be heard.
“According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the age group that is predicted to grow the fastest over the next four years is young Territorians between the ages of 15 and 29 years of age,” Ken Davies said.
“Territory Families is focused on supporting families and strengthening communities, and it is important that we respect and value the views and ideas of young people and facilitate opportunities for them to be active and build stronger connections within their local community.
“Both the NT Ambassador roles and membership of the NT Youth Round Table are exciting and rewarding opportunities for young Territorians to take advantage of, and I encourage families, schools, sporting clubs and cultural groups to encourage the many outstanding young person they know, to nominate for one of these positions,” Ken Davies said.
