Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Judging has been completed and tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards gala ceremony to be held on Saturday 11 November at the Alice Springs Convention Centre.

The Awards are the official tourism awards program for the Northern Territory and recognise tourism businesses that strive for excellence.

Guests at the Awards will be entertained by local Alice Springs rock outfit Wolfpack Amadeus with Corinne Grant set to MC the event.

There are 25 business categories ranging from accommodation, tour operations to festivals and events in addition to individual awards, including the Perpetual Trophy for long term service to the tourism industry, known as the ‘Big Bird’.

Chair of Judges Mrs Fay Miller commended the tourism operators who entered.

“Entering the Brolga Awards is a large commitment and the passion that the entrants have shown in their submissions is to be commended,” Mrs Miller said.

“We have some truly amazing products from across the NT.  Every entrant should be very proud of their achievements.”

Winners of the business categories at the Brolga Awards are automatic finalists in the Australian Tourism Awards with winners to be announced in Perth in February 2018.

In 2016 the NT was awarded seven medals at the Australian Tourism Awards including Voyages Ayers Rock Resort who were inducted into the Hall of Fame for 3 consecutive wins in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism Award.
