Statement regarding peak in demand for emergency care at Royal Darwin Hospital

Department of Health

Royal Darwin Hospital is currently experiencing a peak in demand for emergency care.

This is likely to result in us having to reschedule some non-urgent surgery to allow for those who need hospital treatment to be admitted.

Patients affected by any rescheduling will be contacted and provided with a new date for their procedure.

Any patients with concerns or questions are asked to phone 8922 8888 during business hours.

For emergencies, please call 000 or go to the Emergency Department. Those with non-emergency health needs are encouraged to visit their GP or after-hours urgent care clinic.

The situation will continue to be monitored while the peak in demand continues.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this time.
