The Central Australia Health Service is advising clients and staff members that construction
for a major renovation has started at the Flynn Drive Health Centre and a temporary change
of access to some of the buildings may result.
The upgrades will cost $550,000 and include a new baby care room, child health clinic room
and continence clinic, as well as the revamping of the foyer, waiting area and external works
to improve disabled access.
"During the first six weeks of the project access will change as each section is completed,"
said Anthea Brand, Acting District Manager, Primary Health Care Urban.
Dental services will be accessed through the driveway at the rear of the building off Flynn
Drive and child health, hearing services, speech therapy, occupational therapy and
physiotherapy will be accessed from the far end of the front of the building off the car park.
"We apologise to clients for the inconvenience but the current noise and access issues will
result in improved service delivery and comfort for clients," Ms Brand said.
"I suggest when clients make their appointments that they check for the most appropriate
entry points on the day of the appointment."
The Flynn Drive Health Centre provides important health services to the people of Alice
Springs and the renovation started on Thursday 10 August and should be completed by the
end September.
