Students, families and staff of Northern Territory schools are invited to participate in the 2017 School Survey, to provide valuable feedback on what schools are doing well and where they can improve.

The annual School Survey, which will be conducted from today until 1 September 2017, collects the opinions of students, families and staff about school performance, culture and services.

Chief Executive of Department of Education Vicki Baylis encouraged school communities to take part in the survey.

“In the Northern Territory, we are striving to be the most improving education system in Australia so it is important that students, families and staff are involved to help us achieve this,” Ms Baylis said.

“We aim to build on our existing strengths but the survey also identifies areas for additional effort, to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of students in the Northern Territory.

“The results of the survey will be used to identify ways schools can improve and celebrate what they are doing well, which will ultimately increase student outcomes.

“The responses from our school communities will be used to help to shape important decisions within the Northern Territory Department of Education and allow schools to make informed decisions around planning.

“Feedback will be shared with school communities so they can gain a deeper understanding of their school and its services.”

The School Survey is a confidential, easy to complete online survey, which takes approximately 15 – 20 minutes to complete.

Printed copies of the survey are available for teachers, students and families who don’t have access to online facilities.
