School’s OUT - and there’s heaps to do around the NT!

Territory Families

The mid year school holiday break is fast approaching and there is a wide variety of events, workshops and sporting activities on offer for young people to get involved in right across the Northern Territory.

These include everything from silent discos, gaming tournaments, circus workshops, film nights and Harry Potter themed events to wildlife field trips, sports carnivals, cooking classes, hip hop workshops and lots lots more.

Territory Families Chief Executive Officer, Ken Davies, says a broad range of community organisations, local sporting groups and councils are being supported by the department to offer a diverse mix of youth engagement and development activities during these school holidays.

‘Territory Families’ Office of Youth Affairs administers the Youth Vibe Holiday Grants Program which provides funding support for organisations to deliver engaging and relevant activities for young people in their local communities,’ Ken Davies said.

‘These activities provide real opportunities for young people to learn new skills, participate in different sports, explore innovative technologies and get involved in their local community.

‘Facilitating and promoting these grass roots activities is an important part of Territory Families commitment to supporting families and strengthen local communities by providing young Territorians with opportunities to learn new skills and develop their individual talents and creativity,’ Ken Davies said.

Full details on the school holiday activities happening in each region around the NT are now available on the dedicated Youth Affairs website, www.youth.nt.gov.au. Ongoing updates can also be found on the Youth NT facebook page and you can share your pics via the Youth_NT Instagram site.
