Foodie TV Series starring Lynton Tapp to feature Territory Produce

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

One of the Territory’s favourite TV Chefs, Lynton Tapp, is travelling the Territory filming foodie-based segments for My Market Kitchen, a national TV series that airs 3.30pm weekdays on Channel Ten.

Usually filmed on location at the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne, the show focuses on creating fresh, modern dishes from the best local ingredients and is presented by MasterChef Australia 2013 runner-up and author of Outback Pantry, Lynton Tapp, along with MasterChef Australia’s winner for that year, Emma Dean.

Department of Tourism and Culture CEO Alastair Shields said the filmed segments will showcase a range of local eateries, restaurants, chefs and dining experiences on offer in the NT to a national audience.

“The itinerary for the
My Market Kitchen production is a delicious mix of hipster food and bar tours in Alice Springs and Darwin, foraging and cooking traditional Aboriginal bush foods in Kakadu, as well as a real outback experience in Katherine,” he said.

“Lynton’s trip to Katherine will feature an outdoor cook-out in front of the stunning Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park as well as a classic station dish prepared with country music artist and horseman Tom Curtain.

“The final segment will be filmed this weekend in Darwin, with Lynton accompanied by Jimmy Shu on a trip to the Parap Markets to source ingredients for a special dish prepared at East Point Reserve”.

Lynton said viewers will see the best of the NT’s unique and sophisticated food offerings and experiences when the series airs nationally from July 2017.

“Showcasing the NT, a place I love and know so well, to a wider national audience has always been a major goal of mine since I started presenting for Network Ten.

“The people, places and rich history of the Territory all help to create an amazing place. I hope everyone falls in love with it and it gets them up here to experience all the NT has to offer themselves.”

The shoot kicked off in the Red Centre on 29 May before travelling north to film in and around Katherine, Kakadu and Darwin. For more information on NT destinations visit www.northernterritory.com
