The
Araluen Arts Centre is excited to present Erth’s
Prehistoric Aquarium, a theatre production aimed at children and families
that will see the Araluen stage transformed in to a giant aquarium.
Director
of the Araluen Cultural Precinct Mark Crees said Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium is an exciting adventure that connects
young audiences to the real science of palaeontology in a fun and educational live
theatre and puppetry performance.
“This
stimulating show invites the audience to dive in and meet the playful
prehistoric creatures of the deep seas,” he said.
“This
is the second time Erth have brought a production to Alice Springs, with the Dinosaur Petting Zoo in 2010 a favourite
with young audiences.”
Described
as “a dose of science, a dash of humour
and whole lot of wonder”, audiences of all ages will be able to see and
learn about creatures such as the Plesiosaur and Kronosaurus.
There
will also be the opportunity for a small number of carefully selected young
‘divers’ to join the Erth handlers on stage to ‘swim’ with the amazing array of
aquatic creatures from bygone eras.
“Erth’s Prehistoric
Aquarium
have created unmistakably ‘alive’ and friendly creatures that will delight
audiences aged 5 years and older,” Dr Crees said.
Since
its beginnings in 1990, Erth has strived to provide audiences with eye-popping
visual experiences including giant puppetry, stilt-walkers, inflatable
environments and flying creatures.
Erth’s Prehistoric
Aquarium
will be presented live at the Araluen Arts Centre on Tuesday 6 June at 6:30pm,
and on Wednesday 7 June at 10am and 1pm.
Ticket prices are $22.00 for both adults and children
and available online at www.araluenartscentre.nt.gov.au or from the Araluen Box
