The Wave Lagoon and local businesses have teamed up to deliver great value for Darwin Waterfront customers.
Starting this Sunday 7 May 2017, visitors will be able to purchase a Wave Lagoon Annual Pass and receive FREE Darwin Waterfront Membership.
“Not only does the loyalty card offer unlimited access into the Wave Lagoon all year round, but also a minimum 10% off at over 30 participating Waterfront businesses until 6pm 7 days a week,” Paul Kirby, Local Member for Port Darwin said.
The new initiative has been facilitated by the Darwin Waterfront Corporation, a statutory authority which was established by the NT Government to develop, manage and service the Waterfront precinct for the benefit of the community.
“This is a terrific example of a government corporation working directly with businesses to deliver value for locals while activating the Waterfront and bringing more people to the CBD more often – it’s a real win-win,” Paul Kirby said.
“We understand that cost of living is a key concern for many Territorians, particularly families and seniors living in the Top End. This initiative not only provides locals with more affordable days out, but it also drives business and activates the Waterfront area.”
“This is a fantastic example of stakeholders working in collaboration to attract more locals and visitors in a way that works for everyone,” Sam Burke, General Manager, Darwin Waterfront Corporation said.
“The Waterfront Precinct is the jewel in Darwin’s crown and this initiative makes it affordable for locals to enjoy the destination on a regular basis.”
“Take the example of a senior with young grandchildren. A seniors’ annual pass is an affordable $20 per annum and children under 3 years are free. This means grandparents can take their toddler grandchildren into the Wave Lagoon and its wading pool for 12 months of the year at the once off price of $20. They can then go and enjoy a coffee or lunch at a discount.”
“Families also receive great value with a once-off payment of $125 per annum for unlimited access for two adults and three children (under 15 years), which we hope will also encourage them to use the Wave Lagoon all year round and for shorter and more frequent visits.”
“The passes are a great gift idea for a birthday or special occasion, and will be on sale at this Sunday’s Saltwater Craft Fair.”
The introductory prices for the Wave Lagoon Annual Passes which provide unlimited access for 12 months are:
• Family (max 2 adults 3 children) – $125 per annum
• Adult – $50 per annum
• Child – $35 per annum
• Seniors – $20 per annum
• Under 3 – Free
The free Darwin Waterfront Membership includes a minimum 10% off at over 30 businesses participating range from restaurants including Crustaceans, Chow, the Coffee Club and Trampoline Gelato to harbour cruise operators, the Adina and Vibe Hotels and attractions such as Big Buoy Water Park and the WWII Oil Tunnels.
Locals are encouraged to get in quick to pick up an annual pass at the special introductory prices. The will be available for sale as of this Sunday 7 May 2017 from the Wave Lagoon kiosk, open 10am to 6pm, 7 days.
