Expressions
of Interest are open for the new Strategic Arts Program.
Department
of Tourism and Culture, Director Arts NT, Angela Hill said the Strategic Arts
Program seeks to fund new initiatives to grow a sustainable arts sector, support
the independent and freelance sector and increase opportunities for artists
with a disability across the NT.
“The new Strategic Arts Program is providing a total
of $400 000 in grants funding to the arts community
to support arts projects that showcase the diversity of the Territory’s arts
sector and support strategic sector development,” Ms Hill said.
“The program offers a targeted and flexible approach to fund new
arts industry initiatives by calling for expressions of interest only and by
offering merit assessment in a short turn around to allow projects to go ahead
from July 2017.”
There
are three project categories:
initiatives that increase access and inclusion for artists with disabilities;
capacity building for independent arts producers and curators; and
outstanding arts industry development initiatives.
Individuals, groups and non-profit organisations are invited to
apply for up to $20 000 for projects that increase participation and access for
artists with disabilities.
Independent producers and curators are invited to apply for up to
$20 000 for projects that support them in building a sustainable arts business.
Leading not-for profit arts organisations can apply for up to $100 000 to support outstanding strategic projects for the development of the Northern Territory arts industry.
Activities funded through the Strategic Arts Program are expected
to have a long-lasting effect in supporting the development of an innovative,
capable and sustainable arts industry.
The Strategic Arts Program is an additional funding opportunity to
the Northern Territory Arts Grants Program and a result of community
consultation and dedicated support for arts sector development priorities.
Expressions
of interest need to be submitted by 29 May 2017.
