Tickets are now on sale for the Round 14 NRL match between the Parramatta “Territory” Eel’s and the North Queensland Cowboys in Darwin on 10 June.
The Department of Tourism and Culture, Executive Director Sport and Recreation, Phillip Leslie said the game is the highlight on the local event calendar.
“I know many locals look forward to this event each year and I’m excited to let them know that tickets are on sale and I encourage everyone to plan ahead and secure their spot at the game,” Mr Leslie said.
“The “Territory” Eels have won all three of their prior games at TIO Stadium and we wish them luck for this year’s match against the Cowboys, which we know will be a competitive clash.”
Parramatta National Rugby League Club Chief Executive Bernie Gurr said the team was looking forward to returning to the Top End.
“Brad Arthur and the team love the support they get from our members and fans in Darwin and it will be extra special to play a Cowboys team full of NRL stars like Johnathan Thurston and Jason Taumalolo,” said Mr Gurr.
Like previous years, the Eels will travel to Darwin a week early to conduct their popular community clinics, school visits and signing sessions.
NRLNT General Manager Nigel Roy said the anticipation for the round 14 clash was intense amongst local league fans.
“Ever since the NRL draw was released for this season, everyone from the community has been talking about the clash between the Parramatta “Territory” Eels and the North Queensland Cowboys,” said Mr Roy.
“We expect a fantastic atmosphere at the game as Parramatta have built up a huge supporter base in the NT since they have been bringing games to Darwin. We hope that a big contingent of Cowboys supporters will also travel to Darwin for the match.
Mr Roy added “both teams are evenly placed on the competition ladder this season so the result in Darwin will have a major impact on their final placing for the NRL Telstra Premiership finals series. We can’t wait for the game.”
