BreastscreenNT Mobile Bus kicks off 2017 schedule

Department of Health

This week the BreastScreenNT Mobile Bus held free screening for women aged 50 to 74 years in Darwin City on the grounds of Parliament House.

“It is a wonderful location for the bus to kick off its 2017 schedule,” said Kim Coulter, Northern Territory Manager of Cancer Screening Services.

“Being located in the Darwin city allowed many working women to access this service for the first time.”

Since 2014 the BreastScreenNT Mobile Bus has provided free potentially life-saving mammograms to over 3500 women across the Northern Territory. In 2016, over 5500 women were screened across all Territory screening locations.

The BreastScreenNT Mobile Bus will now be barging across Arnhem Land to the remote communities of Maningrida, Galiwinku, Gove, Groote Eylandt and Wadeye.

All women aged over 50 are eligible for a free breast screen every two years with BreastScreenNT and are encouraged to call 13 20 50 to make an appointment.

For a full listing of communities hosting the BreastScreenNT Mobile Bus web search BreastScreenNT.

Breast screening is FREE, takes less than 30 minutes and does not require a Doctor’s referral.
