Northern Territory Library Director Mr Patrick Gregory today announced the 2017 Northern Territory Literary Awards are now open for submissions, with a number of fantastic cash prizes, free memberships and masterclasses at the NT Writers’ Centre available.
“The 2017 NT Literary Awards are now open for submissions and I encourage emerging and experienced writers across the Territory to apply.
“The awards are a great opportunity to recognise the extraordinary talent in the Territory and writers can participate by entering their short stories, poems, or other forms of creative and academic writing,” Mr Gregory said.
This year features a new category, the Charles Darwin University Creative Non-Fiction Award, and entries in this category can be travel writing, biography, autobiography, memoir, a diary entry, food writing, literary journalism, or criticism.
“The NT Literary Awards have been running since 1983. I’m excited to announce our new creative non-fiction category and I look forward each year to seeing how Territory writing responds to our unique culture, environment and history,” Mr Gregory added.
Entries are open from today (Monday 3 April) and close midnight on Sunday 14 May. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Northern Territory Library on Wednesday 26 July.
The NT Literary Awards are free to enter and writers can submit their creative online at https://nt.gov.au/leisure/arts-culture-heritage/northern-territory-literary-awards.\
