BASSINTHEGRASS teams up with triple j Unearthed

Northern Territory Major Events Company

Triple j Unearthed has kicked off the careers of thousands of musicians including Grinspoon, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana, Amy Shark, The Rubens and the 2016 Hottest 100 winner Flume.

Through ongoing commitment to developing new Australian acts, triple j have teamed up with NT Major Events Company to give one talented Territory act the chance to play on the BASSINTHEGRASS stage with some of the country’s finest on May 20.

NT Major Events General Manager Andrew Hopper said “We are thrilled that triple j have come on board as a media partner for BASSINTHEGRASS and are running an Unearthed competition for Territory artists” Mr Hopper said.

“We have an immense amount of talent not only in Darwin but throughout the whole of the Territory and this is a fantastic opportunity to hear their music played nationally.”

BASSINTHEGRASS has always opened its gates for local original music to win support spots on the big stage. The popular Battle of the School Bands continues to grow from strength to strength, along with public social media voting.

“We will continue to keep these successful competitions running in 2017 and by adding a triple j Unearthed winner, who knows - the next Tash Sultana may very well be a Territorian,’ Mr Hopper said.

The competition will run from Monday March 27 to Sunday April 16, and all artists residing in NT who have tracks uploaded to triplejunearthed.com during this time will be eligible to enter. The winner will be chosen by a panel of triple j experts and will be picked based on their ability to deliver a good live performance suitable for the BASSINTHEGRASS audience.

Triple j Unearthed Executive Producer Lachie Macara said “We’re stoked to be teaming up with BASSINTHEGRASS for the first time,” Mr Macara said.

“There is some incredible talent in the NT and we can’t wait to make some brand new discoveries.”
