TERRITORIAN SINGER BEN EVOLENT LAUNCHES NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR TRACK NEXT TIME

Department of Tourism, Sport and Culture

Territory singer and songwriter Ben Evolent (Joshua Tarca) has launched a new music video for his song Next Time.

The music video complements the Darwin based songwriters track Next Time after winning the Tourism NT Territory Song at the 2016 NT Song of the Year Awards.

The NT Song of the Year Awards is a Music NT initiative and part of Ben Evolent’s prize for winning the award was $10,000 to produce a music video for the winning track.

Department of Tourism and Culture CEO Alastair Shields congratulated the local artist on the music video’s release and said it’s a great achievement for the Territorian.

“I’m thrilled to announce the launch of Ben Evolent’s music video for his track, Next Time. Ben’s song captured the adventurous and fun spirit of the Territory at the 2016 Tourism NT Territory Song of the Year awards, and his music video continues to represent this sense of free spirit and adventure. I’d like to congratulate Ben on a successful music video and we look forward to working closely with him in the future as we help promote our unique lifestyle and destination to a global audience.”

The song Next Time and others from Ben Evolent are currently being used as the soundtrack for the youth marketing campaign for Tourism NT, along with tracks from Darwin band At The Dakota.

Alice Springs based singer Dave Crowe also partnered with Tourism NT to release Better Place which was the signature track on Tourism NT’s television commercials for the It’s About Time advertising campaign.

“Cultivating and supporting home grown talent is an important strategy for the Northern Territory Government, and we continue to partner with talented artists from across the Territory to promote our destination in campaigns and at key tourism events,” Mr Shields said.

Songwriter Ben Evolent said that partnering with Tourism NT has given him exposure to the music industry, as well as the opportunity to present himself professionally in the industry - an opportunity that would normally take years to achieve.

“Partnering with NT tourism has been a really natural coupling and also quite humbling for me. We both share an equal love of the beautiful Northern Territory, which is the strength of the relationship.

“Being able to place my music as part of a way to promote the NT is something I would have never thought about years ago, spinning yarns as a tour guide, but has now become a wonderful reality in encouraging others to see the NT,” said Evolent.

Ben Evolent entertained crowds at the Tourism NT space at the Adelaide Caravan and Camping Show in 2016 and will do the same at the upcoming Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show.
