Following a reported incident on the Darwinbus Network yesterday – Monday 13 March 2017 – the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics (DIPL) has investigated the matter.
The bus driver and Transit Safety Officers involved have been interviewed and CCTV footage from the bus has been viewed.
Claims made by a passenger that she and her child were removed from a bus have been found to be incorrect.
A male passenger travelling with the woman and child was found to be without a bus ticket. Evidence of a fare must be retained by passengers at all times.
When advised by Transit Safety Officers he could purchase a new ticket, the male passenger refused and removed himself from the bus. The female passenger and child followed him.
At no time were these passengers ordered from the bus by the Transit Safety Officers or the bus driver.
