The Araluen Arts Centre is excited for the return of Flickerfest, Australia’s leading Academy Award accredited and BAFTA-recognised Short Film Festival, to the Circus Lawns in March.
“We’re thrilled to have Flickerfest return to the Araluen Arts Centre after a six year hiatus,” said Dr. Mark Crees, Director of the Araluen Cultural Precinct.
“Flickerfest is Australia’s largest national and international short film competition and celebrates the most entertaining and innovative short filmmaking from around the world.”
The annual Flickerfest Short Film Festival receives over 2,400 entries from Australian and International filmmakers and is shown in January in Bondi Beach.
“We’re fortunate to be seeing the best of the Festival in Alice Springs which will allow Central Australians to experience some of the best short films that have been curated from the six programmes in competition at Bondi,” Dr Crees said.
“Some of the big winners from the competition will be showing in Alice Springs including La Convention de Geneve which was awarded the Special Jury Prize for Best International Short Film,”
“Mr Madila and Fish With Legs that were awarded the Yoram Gross Awards for Best International Short Animation and Best Australian Short will also be showing,”
“We’re also excited to announce that Black Chook, a short film directed by local filmmaker Dylan River will be screened as part of the Australian Shorts programme.”
Flickerfest will show the Short Laughs Comedy programme on Thursday 16 March, the Best International Short on Friday 17 March and the Best of Australian Shorts on Saturday 18 March.
Gates will open at 7pm each night with films starting at 7.30pm, and there will be bar and food available to purchase on site.
