Support to celebrate our multicultural communities

Territory Families

Is your community group keen to hold an event that celebrates the Northern Territory’s vibrant migrant and multicultural communities?

Applications are now open for Round 1 of the Northern Territory Government’s 2017-2018 Multicultural Grants Program that offers financial assistance to eligible organisations to deliver activities that positively promote the NT’s diverse mix of cultural groups.

The program is administered by Territory Families’ Office of Multicultural Affairs and previous successful grant recipients have staged a range of popular events including; India@Mindil, the Filipino community’s Barrio Fiesta, the Cyprus Food and Wine Festival, the Japanese Bunk No Hi Cultural Day and celebrations for the Sikh and Islamic communities in Alice Springs.

Territory Families Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ken Davies said by supporting multicultural groups to stage events and activities across the Territory we also help strengthen families and communities.

“These events help bring communities and families together to celebrate culture and diversity and foster tolerance,” Mr Ken Davies said.

“These occasions are also valuable for teaching young people about their own culture as well as the cultural practices and traditions of other people in the community.”

Applications close 31 March.
