On Sunday, a detainee at Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre allegedly threatened and assaulted two Youth Justice Officers.

The Youth Justice Officers were medically assessed and have returned to work.

Also on Sunday, a Youth Justice Officer located at Don Dale Youth Detention Centre sustained minor injuries while responding to an altercation between two detainees.

“Staff at Don Dale Youth Detention Centre managed the altercation between detainees in a highly-professional manner,” Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jeanette Kerr said.

“The young people involved did not sustain any injuries and were separated following the incident.”
