BUSHFIRES NT MESSAGE: WATCH and ACT

LOCATION: Wright Road, MARRAKAI

Excessive black smoke is being omitted from this fire. Bushfires NT have deployed two Fire Bombing aircraft and a water bombing helicopter to assist in the suppression of this fire.

If you are concerned about the air quality around your area, the Department of Health recommends using the AirRater app. The app allows you to monitor air quality at your location as well as providing information on bushfires and planned burns.

When the air quality drops to 'poor' or below, we encourage people with respiratory conditions or illnesses to:

• Avoid physical outdoor activity

• Stay indoors, with windows and doors closed where possible

• If using your air-conditioner, set it to recirculate

• Follow your asthma action plan and seek immediate medical advice or care if needed

• Call 000 in an emergency.

STATUS: GOING - A fire which is spreading on one or more fronts. Effective containment strategies are not in place for the entire perimeter.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside, Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside, A bushfire is running or contained under very high to extreme weather conditions.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Bushfires NT is currently responding to this fire to protect private property.
