Cancellation of Precautionary Advice for Drinking Water - Yarralin Community

Department of Health

The Department of Health has lifted the Precautionary Advice for Drinking Water (Water Boil Alert) for Yarralin after samples from the community’s water supply were confirmed today as being free of any harmful bacteria.

Department of Health Senior Policy Officer, Chris Daly said the water boil alert was issued on  31 January 2017 as chlorination equipment for the community water supply was not operating. Power Water Corporation have notified that they have undertaken corrective action for the Yarralin water supply and followed this up with sampling that shows the community water reticulation to be free of bacterial contamination.

“I am confident that the actions taken and steps put in place will ensure that any future potential public health risks are greatly minimised,” Mr Daly said.
