Barneson Boulevard - improving Darwin CBD

Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics

Barneson Boulevard will provide a new entry point to Darwin’s CBD. This landmark project will also complete the duplication of Tiger Brennan Drive, helping to unlock the potential of the city’s eastern end.

Jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory governments and the City of Darwin, this $39.5 million project includes the completion of the last remaining portion of Tiger Brennan Drive to be duplicated, between Dinah Beach Road and Bennett Street.

The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics is seeking your input to help shape the Barneson Boulevard project to create a better connected city, reduce peak period traffic congestion and encourage development that will help revitalise the city fringes.

A weekly information booth will be in Smith Street Mall, with the project team on hand to respond to questions from the community and listen to feedback.

The first information booth was well attended with a number of interested community members engaging in lively discussion with the project team.

The remaining booths will be at the Knuckey Street end of Smith Street Mall between 10.30am and 2.30pm on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, 8 February

  • Thursday, 16 February

  • Tuesday, 21 February

Following on from the successful community workshop in December 2016, a second workshop will be held on Wednesday 15 February at the Travelodge Mirambeena between 5.30 pm and 7 pm.
