TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MIDPUL BRIDGE YARRAWONGA

Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics

As part of the Gateway Shopping Centre development in Palmerston, the Midpul Cycle Bridge over the Stuart Highway will be closed for about 6 weeks from 6 February, weather dependent.

This temporary closure is required to re-align the bridge with the newly constructed shared path along Yarrawonga Road.

During the closure, an alternate cycle path route will be in effect and pedestrians and cyclists wishing to cross the Stuart Highway are encouraged to do so safely at the signalised Temple Terrace intersection.

A speed reduction to 60 km/hr will be in place while the alternate route is operational, with Variable Message Signs (VMS) alerting motorists to the changed traffic conditions on this section of the Stuart Highway.

In addition to VMS, a traffic management vehicle with flashing lights will be stationed on the approaches to the crossing between 6.30 am and 8.30 am for the first two days the detour is open.

The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics apologises for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and thanks users of the Midpul Cycle Bridge for their understanding.

On completion, this re-alignment will deliver a more direct route to the Palmerston CBD, Yarrawonga Industrial precinct and the Gateway Shopping Centre.

BMD Urban Pty Ltd have been contracted to undertake the cycle path re-alignment on behalf of the Gateway Shopping Centre developers Nesfall Pty Ltd.
