The Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory (PWCNT) advise that due to the onset of the 2016/17 wet season, the following Parks and access roads have been closed in accordance with local procedures.
The bottom road access to Holmes Jungle Nature Park in Darwin has been closed for the duration of the wet season, the Park remains open
The Lower Cascades, Walker Creek, Bamboo Creek Tin Mine and Wangi Pool in Litchfield National Park are now closed for the remainder of the wet season
Buley Rockhole and Florence Falls in Litchfield National Park are closed for swimming until further notice
The Lost City at Litchfield National Park is closed for the remainder of the wet season
Butterfly Gorge Nature Reserve and Tjuwaliyn Hot Springs are closed for the remainder of the wet season
The Reynolds River 4WD Track including Surprise Creek Falls, Sandy Creek Falls and Blyth Homestead are closed for the remainder of the wet season
Channel Point Coastal Reserve has been closed
Garig Gunak Barlu National Park is closed
Condition of roads and creek crossings associated with Giwining / Flora River Nature Park does not allow for public access and the Park remains closed
The Jatbula Trail in Nitmiluk National Park has been closed due to recent rainfall causing significant rises at creek crossings. Swimming at the Leliyn / Edith Falls plunge pool has also been closed for the wet season
Cutta Cutta Caves National Park is closed, rainfall is now impacting on the caves and the access road
Access to Limmen National Park via the Nathan River Road is closed due to flooding. The Munbililla (Tomato Island) camping area is accessibly by boat from the Roper River
The majority of Keep River National Park has been closed due to flooding, access remains open to the Ranger Station and the Information Centre
Limestone Gorge Campground, the Calcite Flow Walk and Bullita Campground in Judbarra / Gregory National Park are now closed due to flooding.
It is expected the closures will be for the duration of the wet season with parks and access roads to be re-opened as soon as possible.
Park visitors are encouraged to monitor the PWCNT Facebook page and the Bureau of Meteorology’s website for rainfall and river data.
