The Alice Springs Desert Park is excited to once again present the 12 days of Christmas activity program.
The activities are offered by the Park as a free gift to the community and visitors to the Park and start Tuesday 13 December.
Alice Springs Desert Park specialist guide, Doug Taylor said children of all ages will be able to celebrate an Aussie Christmas and learn about the Territory’s desert plants and animals in the lead up to Christmas Day.
“Activities include animal encounters daily at 1pm, a range of fun Christmas craft activities and a fun filled Eco-Passport Challenge to use while exploring the Park.
“Christmas craft activities can be found in the air-conditioned entry where children of all ages can make tree decorations and cards using native materials such as seeds, nut and grasses.
“Back by popular demand is our daily animal encounters where people can meet some of the Parks unique native animals up close at 1pm daily in the entry foyer.
“Some of the animals on display for the public to meet will include our resident dingoes Digger and Marle, Barn Owl and Carpet Python.
“Craft activities and the animal encounter are offered by the Park as a free gift to the community and visitors to the Park,” said Mr Taylor.
The ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ activities will be held in conjunction with the Park’s regularly featured activities, and are great for Territorian Pass holders.
Tours are held Monday to Friday and are a great chance to spotlight endangered animals like the Bilby and Mala.
Territorian Pass holders receive unlimited entry to the Alice Springs Desert Park for 12 months at the price of one admission fee.
Territorian Passes make a great gift for Territorians who love to connect with nature.
Daily activities at the Park include the Nature Theatre presentation at 10am in the Amphitheatre showcasing the natural survival skills of native birds, the Nocturnal House with fascinating reptiles and animals of the night, as well as a number of guided activities around the Park.
The Alice Springs Desert Park is open from 7.30am to 6pm daily and is closed on Christmas Day.
