The Northern Territory Government is leading Team NT’s participation in the 2016 Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia- Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Friendship Games.
Following the Minister for Department of Primary Industry and Resources’ visit to Jakarta, earlier this week he has continued on to Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan, to meet the Territory’s sporting delegation.
Participation in the Games offers the opportunities for emerging athletes to participate at a non-national level, as all athletes are less than 21 years of age.
The Northern Territory is participating in six sports including, archery, athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, tennis and table tennis.
Involvement with BIMP-EAGA will assist the NT to develop its ongoing economic, political and cultural relationships with each of the member countries.
The two public servants traveling are Kate Walker, Director International Engagement and Coordination for the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation and Phillip Leslie, Executive Director of Sport and Recreation for the Department of Tourism and Culture.
Travel costs for the two public servants are:
Flights - $2,980

Travel costs are based on the official itineraries received from the travel provider prior to departure and the known exchange rate at the time.
