The Department of the Chief Minister’s Strategic Communication and Engagement Unit has been restructured with the Department’s Digital team transferring to the Department of Corporate and Information Services (DCIS).
The Digital team will continue to provide whole of government digital services including advancing the Northern Territory Government’s central consumer portal, NT.GOV.AU.
The change will bring together streams of work that will improve outcomes, including DCIS’s work with agencies to place more customer services online, and the work DCM is doing to make government information clearer, simpler and more accessible to the public.
The Strategic Communication and Engagement Unit will continue to provide whole of government coordination and governance for communication activity with an increased focus on monitoring compliance with the amended Public Information Act.
The Unit will also continue to lead the Public Information Group during Territory emergencies. It will no longer be a central agency for marketing initiatives, with this function being undertaken within each Department.
The Department is committed to ensuring there is no loss of any ongoing Northern Territory Public Sector employees as a result of the changes.
The
executive of both agencies have met with affected staff and will continue
meeting with individual staff members during this period of adjustment, to make
the transition as smooth and seamless as possible.
