Start your day a healthier way

National Ride2Work Day is a great opportunity for all Territorians to have a go at riding to work.

By riding to work next Wednesday, Territorians can show support for cycling and join over 40 000 cycling commuters nationally.

Cycling to work is a healthy, affordable and carbon-free mode of transport.

In Darwin a free community breakfast will be hosted by City of Darwin between 6.30 and 9am at Raintree Park. Alice Springs Town Council will host a breakfast on the Civic Centre Lawns between 6.30 and 8.30 am.

As a special treat, cyclists in both Darwin and Alice Springs can also enjoy a free bicycle-powered smoothie.

Alice Springs cyclists will also have the opportunity to get a safety check for their bike and the NT Police will be available to engrave bicycles.

National Ride2Work Day promotes the benefits of riding to work and encourages more Australians to ride to work on a regular basis.

It is part of a national behaviour change program, encouraging commuters to feel good by riding to work and experiencing the health, financial and environmental benefits of riding.

Ride2Work Day is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of sharing the road. Cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as all road users and deserve the same respect and courtesy on our roads.
